Debacle III - San Diego Style

The Gang!
A little background first: In 2008, my best friend, Matt, and I noticed that the SF 49ers were playing the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas during the season.  So we bombed out a feeler email to our friends and quickly realized quite a few were interested in coming out.  So the event was planned and I called it Dallas Debacle.  We had a blast and the next year, Jenn and her San Diego friends noticed that the San Diego Chargers were coming to Dallas to play the Cowboys.  Again, quite a few friends were interested and Debacle II took place in 2009.  In 2010, it was noticed that the 49ers were playing the Chargers in San Diego.  Well, Debacle III - San Diego Style was planned and took place December 15-19, 2010.  The Debacles have become an annual thing.  Rumor has it that 2011 finds us going to SF when the Pittsburgh Steelers come for a visit (stay tuned).

Wednesday night at Cantina
So I jumped onto my usual flight to San Diego on Wednesday (the 15th) after work.  A few friends/family came in that same night (my brother Adrien and his girlfriend, Car, and Matt).  We all got a good liquoring at a local watering hole near Jenn's that night.  It was off to a good start.

Thursday required some early morning trips to the airport for pick-ups, to the store for booze and to the caterers for food (thanks to Jenn that was Matt and Ed's duties... gee thanks!).  By 1pm we were entering the stadium parking lot for the 5:30pm game.  Slowly all our friends showed up until some 20+ people were tailgating putting down the food and booze.

Nap Time!

Yeah, there was a game we attended (for parts).  We won't go into that!  After the game we weren't finished yet.  Nope.  It was off to McGregor's (local bar next to the stadium) for post-game mourning (festivities for some).  The tabs were large and I eventually had to take a nap while waiting for everyone to leave (thank goodness Jenn had her car there).

SI baby!

Friday, a few of us nursed hangovers with a nice local breakfast and some visited San Diego.  The evening plan was to paint downtown San Diego.  We hit our favorite spot, Altitude, while it stayed dry for a while. Eventually we ended up at the Hard Rock Hotel club for mucho boozo.

Saturday was recovery and everyone flew back home.

On Saturday night, Jenn's friend Abbie had a birthday party.  It was at a cool new bar called Analog.  They had a live karaoke band playing and we all wore music band shirts.

This trip can only be properly appreciated by attendance or looking at the ridiculous pictures.  So enjoy:
